Description
Join us for a relaxed and inspiring weekend of outdoor painting at the Limerick Plein Air Festival 2026. We will spend two days painting together in Limerick City and at Bunratty Castle, sharing ideas, learning from experienced tutors and enjoying the experience of painting outdoors.
Early booking is recommended as places are limited.
Festival Programme
Day 1 – Limerick City Centre
Saturday | 10:00 – 16:00
As in previous years, we will paint in the heart of Limerick city, exploring its streets, architecture and atmosphere.
Tutor: Des Downes
Day 2 – Bunratty Castle & Folk Park
Sunday | 10:00 – 16:00
On the second day, we will paint at the historic Bunratty Castle & Folk Park — a unique and inspiring location full of character.
Tutor: Tony Robinson
Entry to Bunratty Castle & Folk Park is included in the festival ticket.

Festival Participation – €40

Workshops
Optional workshops with experienced plein air painters:
Des Downes Workshop – €60
Tony Robinson Workshop – €60
Workshops include demonstrations, guidance and individual feedback.
Who Can Join
- Artists of all levels are welcome
- Beginners and experienced painters
- Oil, acrylic, watercolour and drawing are welcome
What to Bring
Please bring your own:
- Painting materials
- Easel or portable painting setup
- Suitable outdoor clothing
Weather Policy
This is an outdoor event.
- In case of a storm warning, the festival will be rescheduled.
- In case of rain, the event will go ahead, and participants can decide individually whether to continue painting.
Refund Policy
- Festival participation (€40) is refundable up to 2 weeks before the event
- Workshops are non-refundable
