A classical still life, painted using the traditional grisaille technique of the Old Masters. The work was developed through a monochromatic underpainting before successive layers of colour were applied, creating depth, luminosity and a rich sense of form.

Created as part of a college project, this painting explores the discipline of classical oil painting, with a particular focus on light, shadow, texture and careful observation.
